Frequently Asked Questions: Support

Listed below are some common questions and their answers regarding donations and support.

If you have additional questions that aren't answered here, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Q: Is this donation tax deductible?

A: Yes, because we are a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, but please consult your tax consultant for details.

Q: Why is NCMA a not-for-profit organization?

A: NCMA is a school of music which focuses its mission on music education. This allows donations to be tax-deductible and also makes us eligible for grants and other funding.

Q: What will my donation be used for?

A: Tuition covers about 55% of our general operating costs. In order to keep tuition reasonable, we rely on donated funds from individuals and local businesses to cover a good portion of the rest. Included in operating costs are faculty and staff salaries, the cost of music, and marketing. Being our inaugural year, we have many needs such as obtaining risers and building our music library, as well as developing a Financial Aid fund.

Q: Can I earmark my donation for a specific individual or fund?

A: Yes, but your donation is no longer tax deductible if you earmark it for a specific individual. However, your donation is tax deductible if earmarked for a specific fund, such as Financial Aid.
